At Sheahans Funeral Home, we understand that arranging a funeral can be a huge responsibility and not something you ever want to have to do. We also understand that if it is the first funeral you have had to arrange, it can be extremely daunting. We are here to help, advise and plan as much as possible, so that you can grieve in peace. We have compiled a list of questions we get asked on a regular basis to help make this easier.

If a person dies in a Hospital or Nursing Home you can ring us directly and we will take some details from you. We will then in turn liaise directly with the Hospital or Nursing Home and arrange for the deceased to be removed and brought to where you wish, whether this is to our Funeral Home or their own home. If a person dies at home, you can still telephone us, but we cannot remove the remains until the Doctor has seen the deceased and signed the release papers.

This will depend on where the death has taken place. If it was in a hospital, this will normally be done there. If this took place at home, it is the next of kin who must report it. We can help you with this.

We offer two types of cremation, the simple cremation and service plus cremation. There is no viewing of the deceased in advance of either. This enables us to keep our costs much lower than a traditional funeral.

Yes. This is often a request we get when somebody is terminally ill. It can be a really good way to ensure that your wishes are followed. It can also take some of the stress away from your next of kin. You can come into our funeral home on your own or with your family to discuss your requirements. We can also arrange to meet you in your home, nursing home or hospital. Our prime aim here is to make you feel completely comfortable and happy in the knowledge that your wishes will be respected. 

Funeral costs will depend entirely on the type of service you wish to have. We outline all costs and are completely transparent. If you have any queries on cost, please speak to us, we will be more than happy to run through these with you. We will tailor all costs to suit you and your families needs.

Yes. This is generally not a problem. Simply let us know and we can work around this.
